下馬威|crack the whip

職場上常有上司對下屬、前輩對晚輩下馬威，以展現其權威或魄力，英文可用crack the whip來表示，原本字面意思是「把鞭子在空中甩得劈啪響」。然而，「下馬威」其實是雙面刃（double-edged sword），若是不懂得拿捏分寸，可能讓人感覺霸道、不講理，甚至導致員工反抗而降低工作效率（work efficiency）。和crack the whip相似的英文為lay down the law（發號施令）。
