鼓掌|applaud

鼓掌的動詞可用applaud（名詞為applause（掌聲，不可數）），也可使用較口語的clap即可。其他類似用法有名詞 ovation（喝采），及片語standing ovation（起身喝采）。與鼓掌相關的諺語有：put one’s hands together (for)。

例句：

1. The theatergoers applauded enthusiastically at the end of the play.
   戲劇結束時，觀戲的人給予熱烈掌聲。
2. The audience gave the speaker a standing ovation.
   觀眾起身為那名演說者鼓掌喝采。
