流星雨|meteor shower

上周看完火星大衝跟月全食之後，下周13日即將登場的重要星象是英仙座（Perseid） 流星雨。

流星雨（meteor shower）通常是一群小行星或彗星（comet）行經地球時，其分出來的流星體（meteoroid）被地球吸引進入地球大氣層（atmosphere），因產生高熱而燃燒，而出現非常光亮的光，也就是我們看到的流星雨。

大多數的流星都會在大氣層燃燒完畢，極少數沒有燃燒完畢就會掉到地面上，就成了隕石（meteorite）。meteor 即「流星」，也可以說 falling star 或 shooting star。
