菁英|elite

elite 是集合名詞，不可數，所以通常會用 the elite 泛指菁英那群人。也可以指站在金字塔頂端一小群有錢有勢的人。elite 除了當名詞，也可以當形容詞用，指「菁英的；掌權的」。

例句：

1. Only a small elite among mountaineers are able to climb Mount Everest.
   唯有登山者中的一小群佼佼者才能登上聖母峰。
2. I enjoy watching elite athletes perform at the Olympics.
   我喜歡觀賞奧運中的菁英運動員大展身手。
