面試一開口說 Nice meeting you，簡直錯得離譜！為什麼？

Jack 去應徵一個工作，英語面談那一關，遇見面談主管，他很熱情地開口打招呼：“Nice meeting you.＂

沒想到這樣簡單的招呼居然錯很大。Jack 說，連事後想起，都覺得尷尬。

“Nice meeting you.” 是在和人說再見。而這時面試都還沒開始呢，怎麼就道別了。當然，他也沒有得到這份工作。來看看 “Nice meeting you.＂用在哪些場合：

• Nice meeting you. I'd better get going.
  很高興和你見面，但我得走了。

• It was nice meeting you, Sam. We'll let you know our decision on Monday.
  很高興和你會面，山姆。我周一再告訴你我們的決定。

Nice meeting you. 應該要面試結束，說再見時講。那一見面開口打招呼，要怎麼說呢？
如果是第一次見面，可以說：
- Nice to meet you.

初見面用 meet，認得的人用 see

記得，是 to meet，不是 meeting。認得的人，再次見面：
- Nice to see you.

Meet 有「第一次相見」之意，熟悉的人，我們用 see，不用 meet；要不然對方會以為你忘記他了。

再來看看其他 meet with/meet up with 的用法：
我和朋友約在餐廳。

（X）I met with my friend in a cafe.
（O）I met my friend in a cafe.
（O）I met up with my friend in a cafe.

meet with 正式的會談；經歷、遭遇

和人約，因為中文裡有個「和」，很多人會自動加上 with。其實 meet 和 meet with 用法上有點差別。Meet 是指一般的會面，像和朋友見面，而 meet with 指「很正式的會談」，特別是談政治、商業等。例如：

• He's coming to Taipei to meet with investors next month.
  下個月他會來台北和投資人會面。

• The President will meet with the community leaders, religious leaders, and the families of the victim.
  總統將會見社區領袖、宗教領袖，以及受災戶。

這兩句的 meet with 改用 meet，也還可接受。只是如果要找老外聊天，我們用 meet with，他可能會覺得非常正式，不知發生了什麼事。

除了會面，meet with 還可以指「經歷、遭遇」，特別是指「遇到不愉快之事」。

• I heard she'd met with an accident.
  我聽說她出了意外。

• If you meet with any difficulties, just let me know.
  如果你碰到了甚麼困難，儘管告訴我。

較口語的用法 meet up with

Meet up with 也是「見面」，是常見口語、較隨意的用法。

• I'm meeting up with some friends after work.
  我下班之後正和幾個朋友見面。

和 meet 相關的，還有好些用法，可以一併學起來：

1.Meeting of the minds

（Ｘ）思想會議
（Ｏ）一致同意
Meeting 是「相會、交會」，minds 是心靈，心靈交會，用來比喻合意、意見一致。

• At last we’ve reached a meeting of the minds.
  最後我們達成了一致意見。

2.Meet your match

（Ｘ）相遇之後覺得很合適
（Ｏ）棋逢敵手
Match 除了「適配」之外，也有「對手」的意思，所以競技比賽也叫 match。＂Meet your match＂指「遇到實力相當，或者更強的競爭者」。

• He was a good player, but he met his match in Peter.
  他是個不錯的選手，但遇到彼得算是棋逢敵手了
