20出頭、35歲上下、快40歲，英文該怎麼說？一張圖搞懂

相信大家都一定會講自己幾歲吧！但有時只想給個大概的歲數時，像是 30 幾、40 出頭，才驚覺不知道怎麼講。今天就來學學怎麼說吧。

只想透露大概的歲數，英文怎麼說？

10 幾、20 幾、30 幾歲

如果要說這些以 10 為倍數的約略歲數的話，可以說「in one's + 數字的複數」。像是 20 幾歲，我們會說 in one's twenties，30 幾歲則是 in one's thirties，以此類推。來看幾個例子：

• I met your mom in my twenties. And we have been married for almost 30 years！
  我 20 幾歲時遇到你媽。而我們到現在已經結婚快 30 年了！

另外，10 幾歲比較特別，英文寫成「in one's teens」，也就是取數字 10 幾後面的 teen 加上複數的 s 啦！來看個例子：

• That baseball player made it to the MLB in his teens.
  那名棒球員 10 幾歲時就在大聯盟上初登板。

那如果想要用形容詞或名詞來敘述時怎麼辦？這時你可以用「數字 + something」來表示！例如 twentysomething 20 幾歲的（人）、thirtysomething 30 幾歲的（人）。記得數字一樣要接 10 的倍數喔。例如：

• A： How old is Tammy?
  　　Tammy 幾歲啊？
  B：Dunno. Twenty or thirtysomething?
  　　啊災。20 幾或 30 幾吧？

• Instagram is not that popular among fortysomething parents.
  IG 在 40 幾歲的父母之間沒那麼受歡迎。

20 出頭、35 歲上下、快 40 歲

「in one's early + 數字的複數」則表示「⋯⋯出頭」，例如 20 出頭為 in one's early twenties，30 出頭為 in one's early thirties。來看個例子：

• Kate still fantasizes about a knight in shining armor in her early forties. That's ridiculous.
  Kate 都 40 出頭了還在幻想著會有騎士來拯救她。實在是太荒謬了。

聰明的你猜到了嗎？35 歲上下的英文就會寫成 in one's mid-thirties；快 40 歲則寫成 in one's late thirties。例如：

• Human brains stop developing in our mid-twenties.
  人類的大腦在我們 25 歲上下時就會停止生長。

• Sadie set up her own business in her late thirties.
  Sadie 快 40 歲時創立了自己的事業。
